Daniel Sewell better known by his stage name Danny Brown is an American independent hip hop recording artist from Detroit, Michigan. Brown is known for his individuality, being described by MTV as "one of rap's most unique figures in recent memory." His 2011 album XXX received much critical acclaim, earning him such accolades as Spin's #1 hip hop album of the year and Metro Times's "Artist of the Year".

FunFunFunFest: The Head and The Heart

The Head and The Heart is an indie folk-pop band from Seattle, Washington. Formed in the summer of 2009 by Josiah Johnson (vocals, guitar, percussion) and Jonathan Russell (vocals, guitar, percussion), the band also includes Charity Rose Thielen (violin, vocals), Chris Zasche (bass), Kenny Hensley (piano), and Tyler Williams (drums). The band signed to Sub Pop Records in November 2010.


The band has toured extensively through 2010 and 2011 in both the United States and Europe, opening for Vampire Weekend, The Walkmen, Dr. Dog, Dave Matthews, The Low Anthem, The Decemberists, Iron & Wine, My Morning Jacket, and Death Cab For Cutie, as well as headlining their own shows. In March 2011, Seattle's City Arts Magazine named them "Seattle's Best New Band", and the band made their network television debut on April 21, 2011 on Conan. Check out there video for "Down In The Valley".

Rakim started out as one half of the hip hop super duo Eric B. & Rakim (who in 2011 were nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame). He is widely regarded as one of the most influential and most skilled MCs of all time.  Eric B. & Rakim's classic album Paid in Full was named the greatest hip hop album of all time by MTV,while Rakim himself was ranked #4 on MTV's list of the Greatest MCs of All Time.

FunFunFunFest: Baroness

Baroness is a band from Savannah, Georgia whose members grew up together in Virginia. Baroness formed in mid-2003, founded by former members of the band Johnny Welfare and the Paychecks. They combine elements of sludge metal, progressive metal and punk.  From 2004 to 2007, Baroness recorded and released three EPs, named First, Second and A Grey Sigh in a Flower Husk (aka Third), with the third one being a split album with Unpersons. The group is made up by:

• John Baizley – rhythm guitar, lead vocals (since 2003)
• Peter Adams – lead guitar, vocals (since 2008)
• Matt Maggioni – bass (since 2012)
• Allen Blickle – drums (since 2003)

FunFunFunFest: Starfucker

Starfucker (also known as Pyramid) is an electronica band based out of Portland, Oregon. The band is made up of Joshua Hodges (vocals, keyboards, guitar, drums), Shawn Glassford (bass, keyboards, drums), Keil Corcoran (drums, keyboards, vocals) and Patrick Morris (guitar keyboard, vocals). Of all the ways your could describe the bands music, Hodges says it best:

 "Dance music that you can actually listen to, that's good pop songs, but also you can dance to it."

They chose the name "Starfucker" just based on the curiosity of how far they could get "with a stupid name like that." Currently signed to Polyvinyl Records they have released two albums. Starfucker in 2008 and Reptilians in 2011. So sit back and drink a "Star Fucker" while you listen to my favorite StarFucker song. 

Fun Fun Fun Fest Releases Lineup

Fun Fun Fun Fest isn't until November, but I'm already getting excited for my favorite Austin's festival. So far the first two rounds of early bird tickets are completely sold out, and we got our first sneak peak at the lineup. The first lineup leak video announced only four bands. Including Starfucker, Baroness, Atlas Sound and Black Moth Super Rainbow. I'll be doing a brief introduction on all the bands/artist as they are released (starting tomorrow) so check back frequently. Until then you can check out the video they created using an old Austin promotional video.
